A total of 5,588 newly-established companies running on foreign capital were set up in Romania in the first 11 months of 2024, down by 13.32% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), consulted by AGERPRES.
The 5,588 new companies had a total subscribed share capital of almost 17.878 million USD, down 85.52% compared to the subscribed capital of the companies registered in the first 11 months of 2023, which totaled 123.431 million USD.
In November 2024, 645 companies with foreign participation in the share capital were registered in November 2024 (+8.04% compared to the same month in 2023), with a subscribed capital of 380,200 USD (-84.84%). By business sector, most registrations were in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (35.81% of total), professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (17.83% of total) and transportation, storage and communication (14.73%).
At the end of November 2024, there were 270,582 companies in Romania with foreign participation in the share capital. The subscribed capital amounted to over 71.8 billion USD.
Most foreign capital companies - specifically 53,653 - run on Italian capital, (3.627 billion USD subscribed capital), but the most sizable foreign capital comes from the Netherlands, specifically 13.219 billion USD, in 6,210 companies.
