Romania was present at the 2025 European Culture Street, a flagship public diplomacy event taking place under the aegis of the European Union, which marked the opening of the Chengdu-Europe Cultural Season, organized by the local Chinese authorities in cooperation with the consulates and embassies of the EU member states.
This year's edition of the European Culture Street organized on April 12 in the Chinese metropolis of Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, took place under the motto "All Imaginable Ways of Dialogue" and also marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the European Union and the People's Republic of China.
Launched in 2008 at the initiative of the EU Delegation to China, the European Culture Street aims to showcase the cultural diversity of the Union and foster people-to-people exchanges between the EU and China.
In the next three months, the Chengdu-Europe Cultural Season will feature a varied program of exhibitions, concerts, theater performances, film series etc.
Romania's booth, organized by the Romanian Embassy in the People's Republic of China, offered the visitors a captivating experience by presenting handicrafts and traditions including old folk costumes, ceramics, folk art needlecraft items, documentary films on the diversity and tourist and cultural offer of Romania, as well as tastings of authentic Romanian products.
Maps, promotional brochures and flags were handed to the visitors, who came to the Romanian stand in the thousands, eagerly interested in the country's specifics, and the possibilities of traveling or studying in Romania, the Embassy informs in a release.
According to the organizers, the European Culture Street event registered over 10,000 visitors, with the local Chinese press covering it extensively.
