Apostolic Nuncio to Romania and the Republic of Moldova, Monsignor Giampiero Gloder, will lead the Requiem Mass for the late Pope Francis on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cathedral, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bucharest informs.
Metropolitan Archbishop of Bucharest Aurel Perca will attend the funeral of Pope Francis, which will take place on Saturday, starting at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Square.
The ceremony, which has the confirmed presence of about 50 heads of state and 10 reigning monarchs, will be officiated by the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Giovanni Battista Re, and will be aired from 11:00 a.m. (Romania time) by broadcaster Angelus TV.
The funeral procession to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Pope Francis' burial place, will move at a slow pace so that people can bid farewell to the late Pontiff.
The entire event will be televised, but the broadcast will stop at the entrance to the basilica dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary because Pope Francis' burial will be private, according to his wishes.
Pope Francis died Monday morning at the age of 88 following a stroke and a subsequent heart failure.
