Justice Minister Radu Marinescu met on Tuesday with the head of the Cybercrime Division at the Council of Europe, Alexander Seger, to discuss important issues concerning ways and procedures to combat cybercrime.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Justice sent to AGERPRES, the official meeting took place at the Ministry of Justice headquarters, in the context of ongoing concerns related to strengthening judicial cooperation in the fight against cybercrime, as well as in order to streamline the process of collecting evidence in electronic form for investigations and criminal proceedings.
"Taking into account the magnitude of the cybercrime phenomenon in the recent period, which both citizens and public institutions and authorities are facing, the Ministry of Justice attaches particular importance to the identification and use of the necessary tools to combat all aspects of crime with a strong negative impact on society. At the moment, the Ministry of Justice has on its list of priorities, in the field of international judicial cooperation, the preparation of legislation for the implementation of the European Union package in this area," reads the press release.
