The volume of construction works increased in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2024 by 12.2% as gross series, and by 13.8% as seasonally and working-day adjusted series, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
As such, in gross terms, the total volume of construction works increased by 12.2%, with significant growth in capital repair works (+60.1%) and new construction works (+10.0%). However, maintenance and current repair works decreased by 4%.
By type of construction: Engineering works grew by +18.9%; Residential buildings rose by +11.1%; Non-residential buildings increased by +2.0%.
In the seasonally and working-day adjusted series, the volume of construction works rose by 13.8%; Capital repairs increased by +54.4%; New constructions by +14.2%; Maintenance and current repairs decreased by -7.1%.
By construction type: Engineering works rose by +21.3%; Residential buildings by +8.5%; Non-residential buildings by +0.9%.
March 2025, compared to February 2025, the volume of construction works increased, in gross terms, by 42.9%, with growth in: Capital repairs (+65.3%); New constructions (+41.3%); Maintenance and current repairs (+33.3%).
By construction type: Engineering works (+64.6%); Non-residential buildings (+24.1%); Residential buildings (+20.4%).
In adjusted terms, the construction volume increased by 4.6% from February to March 2025: Capital repairs (+14.7%); New constructions (+5.3%); Maintenance and current repairs remained at the same level.
By construction type: Engineering works rose by +9.4%; Residential buildings by +0.3%; Non-residential buildings declined by -5.7%.
Also, the gross volume of construction works in March 2025 compared to March 2024 increased overall by 6.4%. By structure: Capital repair works rose significantly (+71.0%); New constructions increased by +2.6%; Maintenance and current repairs dropped by -10.5%.
By type of construction: Engineering works grew by +14.4%; Non-residential buildings increased by +5.0%; Residential buildings decreased by -11.5%.
In seasonally and working-day adjusted series, the total volume of construction works rose by 3.1%; Capital repairs (+65.2%); New constructions (+0.6%); Maintenance and current repairs fell by -12.6%.
