One person died and two were injured as a result of bear attacks recorded in 2024 in Prahova County, with most interventions to remove these wild animals taking place in Sinaia and Busteni, informs Agerpres.
According to data released by the Gendarmerie Inspectorate Prahova at the request of AGERPRES, last year the gendarmes carried out 744 interventions concerning bears, 160 fewer than in 2023, when 904 such interventions were carried out.
"The localities where the most interventions concerning bears were carried out were, both in 2024 and in 2023, Sinaia (221 in 2024 and 137 in 2023) and Busteni (184 in 2024 and 221 in 2023); the damages recorded during bear attacks were: animals killed or injured (pigs, cows, sheep, goats, sheep, goats, etc.) and destruction of property (beehives, fences, etc.)," the cited source shows.
Last year, three human casualties were recorded as a result of bear attacks, a 19-year-old young woman, who was attacked, dragged and killed by a bear on the Jepii Mici trail (Busteni), and two other people who were injured by bears in Lutu Rosu and Alunis localities.
