The President of USR, Elena Lasconi, went to the Victoria Palace on Tuesday to participate in the discussions with PSD, PNL and UDMR representatives on the formation of the Government.
She told the media that she did not receive an invitation to participate in these discussions.
"I did not receive this invitation, I saw on TV that there was a meeting and that the USR did not want to participate. I want to tell you that the USR wants to participate in the government for the good of the Romanians if we have some very clear points to do and tell the Romanians what we are going to do for them and whether we have the money for it," Lasconi said.
According to her, USR did not want to participate in Monday's discussion because it was aimed at the rapid formation of a coalition and the division of ministries, without "transparency" regarding the budget.
In her opinion, it is a "disrespect" not to invite USR to the discussions.
"The most important thing is what you want to do for the Romanians. I went and told them that it is disrespectful not to invite me and the USR representatives, and then to have all the press saying that we don't want to participate and that we are not serious. Of course they were shocked the first time, because I entered, the only woman, in a room with Romania's powerful men and that I presented these problems and I said: 'Let's move on to negotiations and my colleagues will also come'", explained Elena Lasconi.
She mentioned that, during Tuesday, USR participated in the discussions at the Palace of the Parliament on the governing program, but the PNL and PSD representatives do not have decision-making power in these negotiations.
"The representatives of PSD and PNL say: 'We can't decide. You have to talk to the big ones'. That's the big difference between the way politics was done for 35 years and what I want to happen. (. ..) I would like [the new Government] to be ready as soon as possible, but for that we need transparency, reliable partners who treat each partner with respect. (...) We want the best Romanians. We are in a crisis situation, that means you have to come up with concrete proposals: what are you going to do, not to increase expenses, what are you doing concretely in the next period. This is what Romanians expect from us in a moment of crisis", the USR president said. AGERPRES
