Romanian tennis player Anca Todoni qualified for the second round of the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane (Australia), with a total prize pool of 1,520,600 US dollars, on Monday, after defeating Cristina Bucsa, 7-6 (7/3), 6-2, told Agerpres.
Todoni (20 years old, 118 WTA), who came from the qualifiers, needed one hour and 46 minutes to get past Bucsa (26 years old, 103 WTA), a player born in Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova, but who represents Spain.
Anca Todoni won a cheque of 12,300 US dollars and 57 WTA points for reaching this far in the competition, and she will face Czech Linda Noskova, the 12th seed, in the second round.
Also on Monday, Ana Bogdan (32 years old, 114 WTA) will play in the first round against Russian Ana Potapova (23 years old, 35 WTA). Potapova won their first duel this year, in the quarterfinals in Cleveland, 6-2, 6-1.
