The volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as a gross series, recorded a 2.4% increase in the first ten months of this year compared to the same period in 2023, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Wednesday.
According to the official statistics, during the period from January 1 to October 31, 2024, as part of the business growth in vehicle trade, positive results were reported in the following sectors: trade in motorcycles, parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+18.8%), trade in parts and accessories for vehicles (+7.8%), and trade in vehicles (+2.9%).
On the other hand, maintenance and repair activities for motor vehicles dropped 14.9%.
In the same reference period, the turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as a seasonally and working day-adjusted series, increased 2.2%.
According to the source, compared to October 2023, in October 2024, the total turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as a gross series, advanced 9.6%, due to trade in motorcycles, parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+19.7%), trade in vehicles (+12.8%), and trade in parts and accessories for vehicles (+9.5%). In contrast, maintenance and repair activities for motor vehicles decreased 8.8%.
As an adjusted series, business activities in the same area recorded a 6.3% growth.
On a month-to-month comparison between October and September 2024, the vehicle trade registered a turnover increase of 11.1%, as a result of activities in: trade in vehicles (+11.7%), trade in parts and accessories for vehicles (+11.5%), and maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+7.4%). On the other hand, trade in motorcycles, parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles showed a decline of 5%.
The total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance, and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as an adjusted series, increased by 3.9% from one month to the next.
