The two chambers of the Legislature, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, will elect their presidents on Monday morning, after the lawmakers took their oath of office last weekend and the standing committees were established.
The sessions will begin at 9:00 AM, and the vote will be secret.
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the mandates of the elected officials were validated, senators and deputies took their oaths, and the composition of the parliamentary committees was voted on.
In the Chamber of Deputies, the Social Democratic Party holds 86 seats, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians has 63, the National Liberal Party has 49, the Save Romania Union has 40, the S.O.S. Romania Party has 28, the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania has 22, the Party of Young People has 24, and the national minorities group has 19.
In the Senate, the Social Democratic Party holds 36 seats, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians has 28, the National Liberal Party has 22, the Save Romania Union has 19, the S.O.S. Romania Party has 12, the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania has 10, and the Party of Young People has 7. AGERPRES
