Romanian tennis player Gabriela Lee, formerly Talaba, on Wednesday progressed to the women's singles round of 16 at the Chiasso Open ITF tournament in Switzerland, prize money USD 60,000, after defeating British Jordie Burrage 6-4 6-4.
It took lucky loser Lee, 29, world number 434, an hour and 31 minutes to get past the fifth seed.
Her next opponent will be qualifier Sapfo Sakellaridi of Greece, 22, world number 391.
Also on Wednesday, in doubles, Lee and Switzerland's Ylena In-Albon lost in the first round to Swiss pair Susan Bandecchi/Celine Naef 6-1 6-2 in 59 minutes.
In the singles round of 16, compatriot Miriam Bulgaru will face Kathinka von Deichmann of Liechtenstein.
