The Romanian short film "Tell me a poem", made in 2023 by Elena Chirila and Ana Gurdis, will be screened at the London Short Film Festival 2025, which takes place between January 17-26, in most cinemas in London, according to the Romanian Cultural Institute in London.
Director Elena Chirila, together with co-director Ana Gurdis, will represent the film and will hold Q&A after the screening on January 23.
"Tell Me a Poem" is a Romanian production, a video-poem that combines poetry and documentary. The film tells the author's experience of surviving domestic violence and the process of finding herself, in a context marked by uncertainty and anxiety. It is a reflection on a woman's struggle to free herself and find her voice and inner strength, in a journey of self-discovery and healing.
The film was made with support from Creative Europe - Executive Agency for Education and Culture (EACEA) and co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. The film was made as part of the ECHO III Bucharest 2023 Film Residency by the RHEA Artistic Exploration Platform.
The London Short Film Festival is held annually in January at various locations in London. Founded in 2004, the festival celebrates short film productions from every genre, including drama, comedy, horror, science fiction, documentary, experimental, animation, music and low-budget films.
