Romania's Davis Cup team for the match against Bulgaria, which will count for qualification in World Group I, included players Filip Jianu, Cezar Cretu, Adrian Boitan, Victor Cornea and Bogdan Pavel, the Romanian Tennis Federation informs on Wednesday in a press release to AGERPRES.
For the Davis Cup match, which will take place at the Polivalenta Hall in Craiova, on January 31 and February 1, Filip Jianu (23 years old, ATP 218), Cezar Cretu (23 years old, ATP 309) and Adrian Boitan (25 years old, ATP 370) will play in the singles events, and Victor Cornea (31 years old, ATP 91, doubles) and Bogdan Pavel (25 years old, ATP 255, doubles) will form the doubles team.
Bulgaria will be represented by Adrian Andreev (23 years old, ATP 217), Petr Nesterov (21 years old, ATP 431 singles, ATP 311 doubles), Aleksandr Donski (26 years old, ATP 229 doubles), Ianaki Milev (20 years old, ATP 497 singles, ATP 405 doubles), Ilian Radulov (19 years old, ATP 538).
Romania and Bulgaria have met only once before in the Davis Cup, in 1988, when the Romanians achieved a decisive victory with a score of 5-0.
The winner of the meeting between Romania and Bulgaria will promote to World Group I in September 2025, and the defeated team will evolve in World Group II.
