Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu says that the overhaul of the government apparatus is a priority of his term, stressing that the result must be "a much more efficient public system, with competent people paid according to performance, just like in the private sector.", informs Agerpres.
"The overhaul of the public apparatus is a priority that I stated before Parliament, at the government's inauguration, and I am determined to carry it through, regardless of obstacles! The job cut initiated with the Senate and Chamber of Deputies staff represents a natural step the public opinion had been expecting since long, and PSD representatives support and participate in this move. The fact that certain employees who in the past enjoyed PSD's backing for public office were among the protesters at the Senate is their personal decision. The same process has started throughout the central administration, including at the level of the Executive. As soon as I have the exact data, I will announce the number of positions that will be struck off the government's Secretariat General and from all subordinate institutions," Ciolacu wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
The start of the administrative-territorial reform process is the absolutely necessary continuation Romania needs, and which is expected to result in a leaner and more efficient public system, the prime minister added.
