Bucharest General Mayor Nicusor Dan, independent candidate in the presidential elections, said that clarifying all the details related to the annulment of the presidential election is more important than setting a calendar for the new election, Agerpres reports.
Nicusor Dan was asked what he thinks about the statements by Crin Antonescu and Ilie Bolojan according to which the date of the elections should be established quickly.
"Here I disagree both with Crin Antonescu, with Mr. Bolojan and with Mr. Kelemen Hunor. I think that, indeed, it's not normal for us to be in a provisional state, but that comes from the fact that it's not normal for us to have annulled the elections. However, it is more important to sort out than to hurry and pretend that this issue did not exist, that is, the annulment of the elections is a very important issue and the citizens of this country, in my opinion, must, before going to the polls, be convinced that the annulment measure was the right one. At the moment we don't have that clarity. (...) If we set, for example, March 23 as the date of the first round, we must have a guarantee from the institutions that a month before the first round they will come out with this clarification," Nicusor Dan told private broadcaster Digi 24.He added that he doesn't know when representatives of the Romanian state and even the Romanian president will come out to explain these things.
