Several thousand defense, public order and national security personnel, as well as members of associative structures of military reservists protested on Friday in Victoria Square, in front of the government's offices, after a march that started in Constitution Square and took the disgruntled law enforcement workers - many of whom wore hi-vis vests, wove flags and beat drums - past the ministries of Finance, Justice, Labor, and Home Affairs, informs Agerpres.
According to the National Union of Police Officers and Contractual Personnel, the major grievance of the protesters is overtime pay, as they specifically demand the return to the payment increase for planned work put in on weekends and public holidays, the increase of the pay for overtime hours worked Monday to Sunday, as well as the indexation of military pensions with the official average inflation rate.
