President of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) and of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Liviu Jicman is on a U.S. visit January 10 to 17 for a series of meetings in New York and Washington with cultural and technology leaders, as well as with representatives of the American administration, the ICR Promotion and Communication Department said, noting that Jicman will convey a message on the importance of culture and arts in international relations, transatlantic ones included, and will advocate boosting cultural & artistic partnerships between European and U.S. cultural institutions and personalities.
The ICR head will address, as keynote speaker, the global gathering of the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) and the congress of the International Society of Performing Arts (ISPA).
Starting in 2025, the ICR is a member of both APAP and ISPA, which opens up a wide range of potential cooperation opportunities with some of the most powerful performing arts organizations (opera, theater and dance companies, festivals etc.) in the U.S. and around the world.Also, the ICR president is scheduled to meet with New York City's Commissioners for International Relations and Cultural Affairs, the EU ambassador to the United States, the leadership and members of the EUNIC clusters in New York and Washington, the president of the New York Public Library - the second largest after the U.S. Library of Congress and the fourth largest in the world.
"Against the backdrop of a complex international situation and in a period where budgetary priorities are being redefined, Liviu Jicman will present to his interlocutors the financial solutions that EUNIC and the EU have for supporting European-American collaborations," the cited source states.
