The head of the Romanian Rowing Federation, Elisabeta Lipa, on Thursday told AGERPRES that she will get involved as a deputy in the Romanian Parliament in amending the sports legislation, which everyone says is outdated, "but no one is taking a step."
She stated that she knows very well the shortcomings in the sports field, having been involved in the phenomenon for many years."I wish you a difficult year, but also a good one at the same time, because performance in any field is not easy. But even when you achieve it, the satisfaction is also huge. I also took this step in politics, I am a deputy in the Romanian Parliament, I know the needs of sports, the legislation, everything. Everyone says that the legislation must be modified, but no one takes a step to this end, for instance. Naturally, I will get involved in changing the legislation, in the sports field, because that is our role. If I don't know what the needs of sports are either, then... I don't think anyone can say that I don't know what the needs of sports are. And any addition brought to support performance is a source of pride for us as a country, for Romania," said Lipa.
The last amendment to Law no. 69/2000 on physical education and sports took place in the summer of last year through a Government ordinance, the normative act being supplemented with the provision according to which private sports clubs will be able to benefit from allocations from the state budget exclusively for sports activities for children and juniors.
