Four people from Afghanistan, Syria, and Iran, who were illegally in the Schengen Area, were discovered by border police in Arad on Wednesday, traveling in a car stopped for inspection on the motorway. The Romanian driver is being investigated for human trafficking.
"Border police officers from the Nadlac Border Police Sector conducted random and unsystematic checks on the A1 Deva - Nadlac motorway. During these checks, a car registered in Romania, driven by a Romanian citizen, was stopped for inspection. Four foreign nationals were traveling as passengers. Upon inspection, our colleagues found that the passengers did not have documents to travel within the Schengen Area, which is why the individuals and the vehicle were taken to the institution's headquarters for further investigation," the Arad Border Police said in a press release.
The border police discovered that the four individuals were from Afghanistan, Syria, and Iran, aged between 20 and 36. They are being investigated for attempting to cross the state border illegally, while the driver is being investigated for human trafficking. AGERPRES
