Arad border policemen have caught the first two migrants who tried to leave the country illegally after Romania's full accession to the Schengen Area, the two being citizens from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh being caught on board of a bus heading to Germany.
The bus was checked on the A1 motorway by the border police from the Nadlac Border Police Sector. This was one of the random checks on the road network that the police carries out."During the checks, a citizen from Sri Lanka presented himself with a passport issued by the Sri Lankan authorities, on which an expired Romanian visa was applied. In the same vehicle, another citizen presented himself with a passport. During the control, the border police found that there were differences in appearance between the person present at the control and the photograph in the document. Both persons were transported to the police headquarters for further verification, where it was established that they are citizens of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, aged 47 and 24, respectively," a press release sent on Wednesday by the Arad Border Police states.
The two migrants are being investigated for attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border. The Bangladeshi man is also being investigated for identity fraud.
