Orthodox believers will celebrate the Baptism of the Lord on Monday, with 10,000 liters of the Holy Water in 0.5 liter bottles and 5,000 packets of antidoron to be distributed at the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchal Cathedral.
The Epiphany, which marks the last day of the winter holidays, is dedicated to the purification of the environment, in particular the blessing of the water.
In Orthodox faith, the Feast of the Holy Epiphany commemorates the Baptism of the Lord in the Jordan River at the age of 30, before entering public life. According to tradition, on Epiphany Day the water consecration service is performed in a symbolic act of cosmic regeneration.
