A new factory of plastic components for the automotive industry will be built on a plot of land at the entrance to Hunedoara municipality, with the works on this investment to be completed in the autumn of this year, so that production can begin at the end of 2025, the local administration informed on Wednesday.
"Schieffer Industries today [Wednesday] handed over to the builder the site on which a new industrial production capacity will be built. It is about a factory of plastic components for the automotive industry that will be located at the exit from Hunedoara towards Santuhalm, close to Cristur. According to the information provided by the investor, the construction works are aimed to be completed in the autumn of this year, and the new factory should become functional until the end of the current year at the latest", the quoted source says.
At first 40 new jobs will be created here, but the company representatives told the local administration that the project foresees a further expansion of the production capacity, which will lead, in a second phase, to the doubling of the number of jobs.
"I know that some will say that 40 jobs is too few. However, I draw attention to the fact that it is only about a first phase of the investment. On the other hand, as I have said on other occasions, we can no longer imagine that we will ever have, in Hunedoara, a single economic unit with 20,000 employees [as the former steel mill had in the 90s]. In my opinion, small and medium-sized companies are preferable, which can adapt more quickly to the requirements of the real economy. I am glad that, after a rather long period, marked by all kinds of uncertainties on a global level, the Schieffer company managed to actually start the Hunedoara project, especially since the discussions on this investment started in my first mandate," said the mayor of Hunedoara, Dan Boboutanu.
In a first phase, the total area of the new factory will be 17,750 square meters, of which 3,367 square meters will be occupied by a hall and several annexes.
