An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 on Richter scale occurred on Friday afternoon, at 15:49 local time, in the Vrancea seismic zone, Prahova County, according to information made public by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 136.8 kilometers (km), near the following cities: 49 km north of Ploiesti, 51 km southeast of Brasov, 60 km northwest of Buzau, 60 km southeast of Sfantu- Gheorghe, 74 km northeast of Targoviste and 88 km southwest of Focsani.
Since the beginning of January, six earthquakes with magnitudes between 2.4 and 3.4 have occurred in Romania.
The most important earthquake of 2024, with a magnitude of 5.4, occurred in Buzau County on September 16.
