The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) unanimously rejected, on Thursday, the appeal filed by AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) leader George Simion regarding the annulment of the elections won by independent Nicusor Dan.
"In the hearing of May 22, 2025, the Constitutional Court, within the jurisdiction regarding the observance of the procedure for electing the president of Romania, took up for debate the request for the annulment of the elections for the office of president of Romania in the second round of voting on May 18, 2025, formulated by Mr. George-Nicolae Simion. Following the deliberations, the Constitutional Court, unanimously, rejected the request for the annulment of the elections, as unfounded. The decision is final and is communicated to the Central Electoral Bureau," the CCR informs in a press release.
The solemn session for the confirmation and validation of the presidential election results will take place at the CCR at 12:00 pm.
The ceremony will be attended by interim president Ilie Bolojan and Nicusor Dan. AGERPRES
