The National Administration of Meteorology (ANM) issued on Sunday a Code Yellow wind warning, valid from Sunday night until Tuesday morning in the Apuseni Mountains, the Eastern Carpathians and the western half of the Southern Carpathians.
According to meteorologists, wind gusts will pick up, ranging between 90 to 110 km/h, especially at altitudes above 1700 m.
The ANM has also issued a warning valid from Sunday at 20:00, until Tuesday, January 7, at 10:00, which predicts wind intensification in most of the mountainous area, with gusts of 50...70 km/h. At altitudes above 1700 m, wind gusts will temporarily reach 80...90 km/h. In Banat and Crisana, winds will reach 40...50 km/h.
During the night from Sunday to Monday and in the early hours of Monday, in Maramures, northern Crisana and Transylvania and in parts of Moldavia there will be light rain, at first snow, then sleet and rain that will create a glaze of ice in limited areas, specifies the cited source.
