Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announces that for 2025 the inauguration of over 200 kilometers of highways and express roads is targeted, informs Agerpres.
In this regard, he emphasized the importance of the Focsani-Braila Expressway, a project worth over one billion euros, for which several bids were submitted during the auction.
"In the road sector, we are starting the year at the same pace as in 2024, with the first bids already submitted for the Focşani-Braila Expressway execution project. It is a vital project that the Moldavian Motorway to the Suspension Bridge over the Danube and then ensures the connection to Tulcea and Constan?a It is a project of over one billion euros and we want to complete all the major highway construction sites in execution and to surpass, for the first time in 2025, more than 200 kilometers inaugurated in a single year", said Marcel Ciolacu, at the beginning of the government meeting.
Associations and builders from Romania, Bulgaria and Italy have submitted five bids to the auction for the awarding of the contract for the design and execution of the Focsani - Braila, the National Road Investment Company (CNIR) announced on Wednesday on its Facebook page.
The contract for this investment financed by European funds has a value of 5.3 billion RON, and the completion period is 42 months, of which 6 months for the design and 36 months for the execution stage.
The Focsani - Braila expressway, with a length of 73 kilometers, will ensure the connection between the Ploiesti - Pascani highway (A7), the bridge over the Danube from Braila, the Braila - Galati expressway (DEx 6), Tulcea and Constanta.
The contract was auctioned in a single lot, thus becoming the longest high-speed road section to be built under a single contract.
