Brasov is strengthening its collaboration with UNICEF regarding the project by which it would be declared a Child Friendly City, Gabriella Akimova, UNICEF representative in Romania, announced on Friday.
"There are three very important areas that we envisage for 2025 that we will accelerate and we will build concrete steps: to develop a monitoring system, so that we can see, regarding the action plan developed together with the community, how we are progressing, the indicators and its realization. We will also build on the good practices of the city of Brasov on children's participation and strengthening their voice in the community, so that we can hear our young people and know what the things they need are, because they are also actors in the community and partners with us. And the third component, we will work with the administration to make sure that planning and budgeting respond more effectively to the needs of children and families and that they are well adapted to those needs. Brasov has always been a good partner and we look forward to continuing," said Akimova, according to a statement issued by the Brasov City Hall.
Among the objectives that the municipality has taken on and already achieved are: the social service Day Center of recovery for children with disabilities; playgrounds with facilities for children with disabilities; special transportation for pupils; the development of the Children's HUB by the Brasov County Educational Resource and Assistance Center.
The projects for 2025 will be finalized during a meeting of the Brasov City Hall management with UNICEF representatives, said deputy mayor Dan Ghita.
"I am convinced that Brasov is a very, very child-friendly city, but, for sure, there are still things to be done. We have established a new meeting at the end of January, when we will discuss concretely what we still have to do until the end of 2025, so that our city receives the recognition that this city is a Child Friendly City," deputy mayor Dan Ghita was cited as saying in the press release.
