The new president of the Senate, Ilie Bolojan, who chaired the first meeting of the legislative body after being elected on Monday, expressed his hope that better laws will be generated.
"I never thought that I would become president of the Romanian Senate, it was not a goal for me to occupy this position, but I will do everything possible to represent the Senate and our country with dignity. I think a few things are important to me from this position and I hope you will resonate with them as well. First of all, to be able to generate laws that are as good as possible, as clear as possible, not laws that sound necessarily good, but that create problems, laws that solve problems, laws that create a good context for Romanians, for our entrepreneurs to develop and for our country to have a good direction in the coming years," said Bolojan.
He emphasized the importance of reforming institutions that are are related to Parliament's coordination.
"From my administrative experience in the last 20 years, these have been among the most inefficient institutions and I believe that we need to focus on them in such a way so as to make them more efficient, closer to the people and to generate better regulations in the areas they manage," explained the newly elected Senate president.
According to him, a very important issue is to increase trust in the parliamentary system and in Parliament, including the Senate.
"I believe that we have to fight for this issue, because you know that we have the lowest trust rate in public institutions and this very low rate has repercussions in society. And, if we want to have more trust among people and better conditions, I think it is very important to fight for more trust, including in the Romanian Senate," said Ilie Bolojan. AGERPRES
